To kick start the 2010 swapping year, the Melbourne Team is putting on quite the show! Not only will they be holding a fabulous swapping event for the guys and girls as part of the Sustainable Living Festival on Wednesday 10th February from 6.30 at BMW Edge Federation Square (tix $20 book online), but The Clothing Exchange will also be hosting a forum on Sustainable Fashion as part of the Sustainable Living Festival, lead by our very own Kate Luckins! This fashion forum will feature some of Australia’s leading ethical and sustainable fashion experts including Cameron Neil and Emer Diveney. They will be discussing the darker side of fashion, including fair trade, sweat shop labour and issues surrounding sustainable textiles. There will also be some handy tips on how to reduce your fashion footprints. And best of all this forum is free, to be held at BMW Edge Federation Square on Friday 19th February.
Tomorrow 28th November is Buy Nothing Day where everyone is encouraged to stop consuming and focus on the better things in life. It was started in 1992 in Vancouver by Adbusters as a way of protesting against consumerism that can run rampant in our society, it is now a worldwide event.
And remember Swap don’t Shop.
